Transforming our challenge into an opportunity

Dear Friends of the Constellation,

“No, JL, we are not going to hibernate. Instead, we will be more awake than ever!” Faced with a temporary financial shortfall, the Board proposed to the members of the Constellation Support Team (CST) last month to go on “hibernation” and to work only one day per week. Instead, CST members decided to work on a volunteer basis as much as they could, and we all have seen how active the team has been!

We realize that Constellation Support Team members are not the only ones facing difficult financial times. Many of you are facing similar challenges and are volunteering time and spending some of your own money to support local responses. It’s never too late to recognize and appreciate our collective strengths! Still, our concern remains: what shall we do together for the Constellation to thrive? The Board and the CST have already begun to take steps to address these financial challenges. What began as a crisis has become an opportunity to revisit why we are so committed, who we really are and what we can do together to achieve our collective dream. Therefore, the Board have requested a ‘Constellation Dream Team’ consisting of April Foster, Olivia Munoru, Sanghamitra Iyengar, Prince Bosco Kanani and Yves Charpentier, to support our collective thinking on these questions and reaffirm the vision and functions of The Constellation. The group have been tasked to come up with suggestions by October 30, 2011. Over the months to come, the Dream Team will solicit your inputs. We are sure that we can count on your participation.

Jean-Louis Lamboray,
on behalf of the Constellation Board
