Teams in six Asian countries support the spread of the AIDS Competence Process in their country
Partner: Asian Development Bank
The Constellation and the Asian Development Bank support the development of country teams in six countries -Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Papua New Guinea and Thailand. For one year, the teams in each country will develop strategies to spread the AIDS Competence Process at scale in their context.
Since 2007, teams in the six countries applied the AIDS Competence Process and adapted it to their own context. Read more about the first partnership with ADB.
At the end of the ADB partnership in 2009, the teams were determined to continue to use the AIDS Competence Process, to apply it to other issues, to go to scale with the approach in their country and to keep on learning from each other. Therefore, the ADB agreed to support the teams in the start-up phase.
Representatives of each country team came together in Chiang Mai in March 2010 to build a common dream, to share their experience and to plan for next steps. The teams also learned from the team in DR-Congo and Kenya.
Each team implements its own action plan. Three teams (Indonesia, Philippines, Papua New Guinea) want to officially register as an organisation in their country to be recognized as national actors.
“It is refreshing that India, Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea are on the same journey, flowing on the same river”, said Myrna, from Pinoy Competence (Philippines).
