Community Life Competence applied to other issues
Issues like global warming, peace and reconciliation or human pandemics have great (potential) impact on our life. The solution to these issues lies primarily in our individual and collective behavior. Local ownership enables individual behavior change to take place and be sustained in a supportive environment.
The Community Life Competence Process is a method that allows people to take ownership of life concerns. Besides HIV and malaria, it has been applied to:
- diabetes (read more)
- Human prepardness to Pandemics (read more)
- Adolescent Reproductive Health (read more)
- peace and reconciliation
- School Competence
It can easily be adapted to any other issue.
At each step of the process, a facilitation team supports the community with an appreciative way-of-working and a set of tools. SALT is their mode of interaction with communities: Stimulate, Appreciate, Learn, and Transfer.
School Competence
|

“We started to develop a self-assessment framework of the Competent School, extracting the common practices from the teachers’ dreams. It helped the teachers to think out of the box. It opened their mind to new possibilities. Before the teachers just taught taught taught but now they want to work on other aspects like student development or community involvement."
