South Africa CordaidCapturing good practices with the partners of Cordaid in South Africa
March-April, South Africa

Cordaid, a dutch NGO, has asked the Constellation to support its 14 partners in South Africa to capture good practices. Ricardo Walters and Onesmus Mutuku, two Constellation coaches, started to capture the strengths and beautiful stories from the partners they visited. “Much appreciated was the move away from traditional models of evaluation to a methodology and process that allowed for the “investigated” to set the tone,” said Bernice Roeland, Director of AIDS Response, on of Cordaid’s partners after Ricardo’s visit.

Ethiopia support visit IIRR Cordaid“The self-assessment is like a mirror”
19-29 April, Ethiopia

This is what a member from a pastoral community in Borana, Ethiopia said. He explained, “The dream and self-assessment help us see ourselves better, so that we can plan how to respond to those things that threaten us.” Constellation coaches and staff members from the International Institute for Rural Reconstruction (IIRR) made the first support visit to teams in Ethiopia since the AIDS Competence Process was introduced in December 2009.

Meeting book projectA Book Project: “Changing our Outlook”
16-17 April, Belgium

SALT inspires many of us, in our private as well as professional lives. Time has come to consolidate the current understanding of SALT among those who practice the approach: what we think we know and what we don’t know. That is why a group of Constellation members want to write a book about essence of SALT, its impact on communities, on facilitators and on institutions. They met in Grez-Doiceau, Belgium, to discuss the book.

Marion“People’s capacities are a never-ending source of energy”

“I think there is nothing like giving back to people the opportunity to believe in their own capacities because this is the best resource we have in this world. For instance, we hear a lot about renewable energies those days but sometimes we forget that people’s capacities are a never-ending source of energy. Also it brings us closer to each other to realize that this is something that we all share in the world: we all have capacities. So let’s join and make the most of it!»
